Rufus Wainwright has become a father.
The gay singer-songwriter announced on his website today that he and Lorca Cohen, daughter of Leonard Cohen, had become �proud parents�.
Viva Katherine Wainwright Cohen was born on February 2nd in Los Angeles, California.
Wainwright wrote: �The little angel is evidently healthy, presumably happy and certainly very, very beautiful. Daddy #1 would like to offer everyone a digital cigar and welcome the little lady in with a French phrase from his favorite folk song, � La Claire Fontaine: �Il y a longtemps que je t�aime, jamais je ne t�oublierai.��
The baby wil be brought up by both of her parents, the Guardian reports, as well as Wainwright�s partner and �deputy dad� Jorn Weisbrodt.
Last year, Wainwright told the Guardian he wanted a baby.
He said: �We�re exploring all options, sort of, at the moment and it�s very top secret but it�s certainly something I�m �thinking of.�
The singer then went on to tell an anecdote about Leonard and Lorca Cohen.
